Ingrid Betancourt: From rabies in the heart until love for Colombia

       Seems that the famous phrase that says time heals everything has come true with the political leader and now writer Ingrid Betancur, who must understand that every beginning is difficult and for this has not been the exception his foray into the letters.

       I remember when I knew of the publication of his book The rage in his heart, I felt that Ingrid was a person with a certain cynicism and cruelty by portraying starkly some of the social vicissitudes and policies Colombia, as if things never had solution or if I had a bitter hatred against me, he did not know me, because I felt like the fact of being Colombian.

       And yet, every time the FARC published images Ingrid survival rather than strong, looked terribly stubborn in their whims, as willing to die without cause, in this case, she had become for me a rebel causeless.

       Shortly after being released by the glorious army of Colombia, Ingrid almost insulted Colombians by a new incident related by a symbolic compensation as she and representing about six million of dollars. I wanted to understand that was destroyed physically, morally, emotionally and psychologically from the trauma that his long kidnapping was staged, but no. Still he believed that absurd insistence to accuse an entire noble people had not cured despite much suffering.

       I began to think sometimes, or better, to imagine, with the idea of ​​someday speak in person and tell him admired for their courage and their offenses had no scars on my mind, that appreciated and therefore when they first he was kidnapped as a presidential candidate, he had voted for it. Well, from time to time I heard from her when he did some academic or social purpose in the world.

       It was a surprise when I recently heard again by the media talking about the peace process with the FARC. He was ready to receive severe criticism Colombians, perhaps remembering how was heading strongly in the past. She began to talk about the process ... excellent and something that caused me emotion, and was to hear him say that more than a political process; it was a process from the heart of reconciliation of all Colombians.

       Then I realized that Ingrid Betancur I had no such rage in his heart, but his love for Colombia and my admiration was reborn.

Does the market economy ensure human rights?

  Given that the market economy does not respect borders or cultures but enter without "permission", and also tries to mold the thinking of the people ... be reliable a State in which a free market prevails care and welfare of its citizens?

      

        The order is guaranteed the freedom to some extent ... and what everything else as equality or social and legal justice? Although written the Declaration of Human Rights on paper the reality is far from the social ideology, and, even if states with the best intentions to safeguard individual rights of citizens, it is increasingly difficult to do, almost impossible to fulfill it, why?

     

       The reasons are endless for the many causes that may limit a State, but, inasmuch as the market economy is part of the life of every person and every entity is present there ... limiting the actions of the state and executions constitutional, policy changes by definition, in the way of understanding the offense and a thousand other ways to intervene society.

     

        That is why many ideals have been distorted in the absence of guarantees to preserve human rights, that is, in the eyes of world conflicts (caused by economic factors that push political action), social injustice and a number of factors is needed and that society feels the need to supply is enlivened with euphemisms such as property, individual independence and other guarantees that all they do is divert attention from fundamental rights. So it is impossible for the market economy ensures Human Rights and if it does is because it really is a farce ... mimicry.

        Change the ruling establishment? In everything there is a process ... a process that begins in thought ... a social process ... culture ... at least start thinking about that the better the welfare of all people, the better the real solidarity, progress both individually and in the society ... and think that is possible.

The new era of post-conflict in Colombia: Castro-Chavez-Santos vs. Hitlerism-fascist-Uribe

        Much can speculate on the political situation, or rather, on the new Colombian political scene once the respective peace processes, one with the FARC and the other with the ELN materialize. The armed conflict is a social cultural transformation, economic, political and whenever down to its lowest point if you want to call in some way to the intensity of the problems in society, this will generate some reassurance and confidence in the population not only from within but from outside Colombia abroad.

        The negotiated peace means the end of the armed conflict but not the end of hatred and resentment. This will take time and as they say by strengthening democratic institutions, and only Castro-Chavez-Santos and Uribe-fascist-Hitlerism in the past will soon be a false trend, that is, as a fallacy of conflict a couple of leaders wanted to invent ... but that deep Colombian society has always considered dialogue and reconciliation as the best solution to differences.

Is USC Under Threat?

TROUGHTOUT THE HISTORY OF THE UNIVERSITY OF THE SOUTHERN CARIBBEAN THERE HAS NOT BEEN TENSE MOMENTS LIKE THOSE OCURRED IN RECENTS WEEKS. FIRST CAME THE FIRE OF THE MAIN AUDITORIUM, WHOSE AUTOR OR AUTORS OF THIS FIRE AND THE REASONS FOR THIS ACT CONTINUE TO BE A MISTERY, AT LEAST FOR THE STUDENT POPULATION, AND OF COURSE ALL OF THIS BECAME A SEA OF ESPECULATIONS.

              WHAT DID THE POLICE AND JUDICIARY SAY ABOUT IT? WHAT SAYS UNIVERSITY’S MANAGEMENT?  SILENCE WAS THE CONSTANT FACT IN ALL THAT HAPPENED.  HOWEVER, IT IS IMPORTANT TO NOTICE THAT SECURITY PERSONEL INCREASE AND THEIR PRESENCE IS NOTICE, THEY WALK ACROSS CAMPUS LIKE IF THEY ARE DOING SOMETHING OR IT MAY BE THAT THEY ARE ONLY TRYING TO AVOID HORRIBLE SITUATIONS FROM HAPPENING OR ANY CRIMINAL AC TIVIRY.

       WHO WAS OR WERE THE INDIVIDUALS WHO CAUSED THE FIRE? IS USC OR THE STUDENT POPULATION UNDER THREAT? WHY SO MUCH SILENCE AND LACK OF INFORMATION?  HOW BAD IS ALL THAT IS HAPPENING? WHAT ARE THE MOTIVES SURROUNDING THESE EXTREME ACTIONS, LIKE SETTING A FIRE ON THE BUILDING? IT WAS SHOCKING FOR ME TO NOTICE THAT THE HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS ARE NOT ALLOW TO ENTER THE ADMINISTRATIVE BUILDING.  HENCE, I PRESUME THAT THE USC’S PRESIDENT, DR CLINTON VALLEY IS DEALING WITH THIS MATTER AND IS TAKING SECURITY MEASURES.  BUT IS THET ENOUGH?

       REFLECITONS WILL NOT BE ENOUGH, IT IS NECESSARY TO IDENTIFY THE MOTIVES AND THE PERSONS WHO ARE BEHIND ALL THIS. IT IS NECESSARY TO KNOW HOW MUCH IS THE THREAT TO DEAL WITH IT, AS TO AVOID FUTURE THEATS OR DAMEGES.  IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT THE STUDENT POPULATION BE INFORMED AS TO WHAT IS HAPPENING.  IT IS ALSO NECESSARY TO CONSIDER THE SOCIAL LIFE ON CAMPUS AND THE RELATIONSHIP AMOUND IT’S MEMBERS IN AND OUT OF CAMPUS.  IT IS ALSO NECESSARY TO MAINTAIN THE PEOPLE’S CONFIDENCE IN ALL AREAS OF THE SOCIETY.
